Christian Counseling

Christian counseling is a form of therapy or counseling in which a Christian counselor, as a representative of a the Christian faith and community, uses the insights and principles of the Christian religion, theology and modern behavioral sciences in working with individuals, couples, families, groups and institutions toward the achievement of wholeness and health.

An important ingredient which makes Christian counseling different from other forms of counseling is the conviction that life’s crises and transitions, as well as emotional dysfunctions, are best met by both the wisdom of Biblical teachings and the knowledge and skills of the human behavioral sciences such as psychiatry and psychology.

Christian Counseling Includes Jesus

Christian Counselors believe that many of life’s problems come as a result of the condition of the heart. If the heart is right with God, a person’s relationships will reflect that.  Christian Counseling exists to help, exhort and encourage individuals in a closer and more personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Once a better relationship with Jesus Christ exists, then the function of Christian Counseling is to help the client understand who they are in Christ, their purpose, calling, and how to get there.

Christian Counselors believe that the main way to be truly happy in life and fulfilled is to go in the direction that God has called all human beings. In doing so, relationships will be better, people will be healed, lives will be changed, families will become more focused, and one’s life will begin to work together as one body with many parts.

Christian Counselors have received graduate training in both religion and behavioral science for a clinical practice that integrates psychological and theological disciplines.

Christian Counselor’s Beliefs

Christian Counselors believe that there is One God in whose image and likeness we are created. They believe that we yearn for a transforming connection with the divine, and that psychotherapy can mediate the loving and healing nature of being itself.

Christian Counselors also make therapeutic use of traditional religious resources such as prayer, Scripture reading, and participation in the worship and community life of a congregation. They pay special attention to the religious history of the client and his or her family, noting how it may contribute to the suffering or resources needed for coping.

All of our counselors are Christians and are also trained to work with clients on a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, family, relationship and marital issues, phobias, sexual, physical, or emotional abuse, spiritual development, substance abuse, terminal or chronic illness, women’s issues, work or professional issues.

What Christian Counseling is not:

It is not using the Bible to beat people over the head.

It is not imposing our doctrinal views onto you.

It is not judging or disapproving of you for things you have done, or are doing.

What if I’m a Christian at heart, but haven’t lived like one for many years?

We are not here to judge you but to help you. Regardless of where you are at this moment we offer accepting and caring counseling to help you find the solutions to your problems.

Do I need to be a Christian to benefit from your approach?

No! All are welcome.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe the Holy Bible is the inerrant Word of God.

We believe that in the one true God there are three distinct persons. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son born of Virgin Mary. He was and is the only one to ever live a sinless life.

We believe that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His death, burial, and physical resurrection.

We believe that the Blood of Jesus Christ shed on Calvary was and is sufficient to forgive man of all his sins.

We believe in the physical and visible return of Jesus Christ to the earth.
