Divorce is one of the most traumatic experiences that a person can go through. Divorce shatters a women's self esteem. I am sure you have experienced anger, guilt, shame, blame, rejection, abandonment and an overall feeling of depression.
Throughout the divorce process, it is is hard to relate to people who have not been through this type of a trauma. The idea that your partner is no longer available to you may leave you feeling alone, frightened, and abandoned. Life feels like a roller coaster. The thought of starting over is completely overwhelming. You are not alone!
The support of family and friends is very important; however it is very healing to share experiences and gain insight from those who have been through this unique type of grief. If you are in the process of getting divorced, or have been divorced for many years; this group is for you.
This group is targeted for women who feel as if you were, "blind sided". Perhaps you did not even know there was a problem in your marriage. Maybe you were not given a chance to work on any issues in your marriage. It happened so quickly, you never had complete closure to the relationship. Now, you feel like giving up, and that your life is over.
Your life is not over. Rather, I believe that you are just starting a new chapter.
This group will help you to regain the strength you already have but lost faith in yourself. This group will help you to remember who you are as a person; who you were before the marriage and who you are now.
We will begin the group by getting to know each other and you will be asked to share only what you are comfortable sharing. We will do a brief check in with each member then start working on our strengths, and help to encourage each other to move through the grieving process. The goal of this group is to help you regain self confidence, increase self esteem, and begin healing and moving on with your new life.
Together we can get to the place of acceptance and find the closure we need to move on.
This group will be an eight week group beginning on Thursday February 12, 2009 and ending April 2, 2009. The group will meet every Tuesday from 7pm until 8:30 pm. Open spots are limited.
